Throughout the day of the Astan Asia Day festival, Shuji, drummer of the headlining band GYZE, was—whenever he wasn’t mingling with his bandmates and fans—glued to his drum sticks in the backstage. In order to understand a bit more about these rather personal moments of drum passion, we conducted a short interview with him afterwards.

EN.CORE What do you consider important in your skills and the style of beats you deliver to your audience?
Shuji: I think it is more important to enjoy playing drums than skills. Of course I always try to improve my skills, though.
EN.CORE: Is there a certain technique you use that could be considered Shuji style?
